New tube?

New Tube? News Corp. said last week that it is contemplating creating a Web site to rival San Mateo-based YouTube. News Corp is the owner of Los Angeles-based MySpace.com, which according to the New York-based media giant sends YouTube 60 percent to 70 percent of its traffic--traffic News Corp would like to retain. Also last week, NBC Universal said it has launched an on-demand video Web site called National Broadband Company, which is also a user-generated video site similar to YouTube.
