The power of speech

Dictation is a part of many attorneys' daily routine, and it can take hours or even days for work to be transcribed. The latest program from Dragon Systems Dragon Systems, Inc., was the company that created DragonDictate and Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It was founded in 1982 by Drs. James and Janet Baker and bought by Lernout & Hauspie in 2000.  eliminates that wait, both at home and on the road.

NaturallySpeaking Mobile Legal Suite includes NaturallySpeaking speech recognition software, a pocket-size digital recorder See DVR and CD-R. , extensive legal vocabulary, and support for Corel WordPerfect See WordPerfect Office and WordPerfect Corporation.  and Microsoft Word.

Users can dictate briefs, notes, or other correspondence into the hand-held unit, which can hold up to 40 minutes (about 10 pages) of recorded speech in internal memory. The recordings are filed in customizable electronic folders, which are marked with the date and time of the recording, as well as the user's name.

The unit is then connected to a PC, selected recordings are downloaded, and the recorded speech is transcribed into text. The program also executes voice commands for formatting and editing.

Price is $995, additional memory cards are available for $39.95 each, and current NaturallySpeaking Legal Suite users can upgrade to the mobile version for $199.
