The Documation '95 Conference & Exposition, March 7-9 at the Long Beach Convention Center, is sponsored by the Graphic Communications Association, The Gilbane Report and CAP Ventures. At the expo, a number of new products will be featured among the vendor exhibits. The XSoft division of Xerox will be conducting preview demonstrations of its new document-management system, code- named Chrystal. Document Sciences Corp. will be showing CompuSet, a new document-automation architecture. It will also be introducing two new CompuSet sub systems -- Document Library Services (DLS) and Document Viewing Services (DVS) -- as well as introducing compatibility with CD-ROM archived technology and popular on-line document-distribution systems. Novell will feature WordPerfect See WordPerfect Office. SGML Edition, ConvertPerfect and WordPerfect Internet Publisher. WordPerfect SGML Edition layers the SGML tagging and validation system, along with a new layout- generation process on top of WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows. ConvertPerfect 2.0 is a conversion tool that supports document interchange to and from the Open Document Architecture (ODA) format, FOD26. WordPerfect Internet Publisher, a free add-on to WP 6.1, contains everything the user needs to create HTML and native WordPerfect. It also allows users to view HTML, WordPerfect and Envoy documents, in addition to containing Internet-access software. The SDK features a C++ API to the InContext SGML Editor, which allows customization at all levels: from adding a menu item to check a file out of a document database, to incorporating dynamic DTD-specific help facilities. In addition, several innovative case studies will be released at Documation. For example, Andersen Consulting will feature Engineering Workbench, developed for the Paul Newman and Carl Haas Racing Team. The Newman/Haas Engineering Workbench enables the professional race team to streamline complex race engineering tasks that have traditionally been paper-based. The client/server system runs on a 486/75 laptop and features an object-oriented, document-centric architecture based on Microsoft's OLE 2.0 specification. In addition to the expo, Documation '95 offers a three-day conference with high-level conference sessions focusing on the issues and technology of document management.
