New product functionality for Linux. The first UK demonstrations of new Linux enhancements in two of Avocent key products at this year's LinuxWorld show.CCM CCM Contemporary Christian Music CCM Critical Care Medicine CCM County College of Morris (New Jersey) CCM Chama Cha Mapinduzi (political party, Tanzania) CCM CORBA Component Model Console Manager and the latest version of Avocent's DSView 3 management software have taken place. and are reviewed below. CCM Serial Console Managers Now integrated with IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) A protocol for monitoring server hardware for temperature, voltage, chassis intrusion, etc. Introduced in 1998 by Intel, HP, NEC and Dell, IPMI defines a standard set of messages for the characteristics of hardware and Serial over LAN Serial Over LAN is a mechanism that enables the input and output of the serial port of a managed system to be redirected via an IPMI session over IP. On some managed systems, notably blade server systems the serial ports on the managed computers are not normally connected to functionality, the CCM Console Manager offers the highest port density in the industry. Not only does this meet the serial intensive demands of Linux administrators, it also enables them to gain maximum value per port by providing an additional 16 "virtual" ports at no charge. Virtual ports offer all the key benefits of CCM physical ports: share mode, offline buffering, NFS (Network File System) The file sharing protocol in a Unix network. This de facto Unix standard, which is widely known as a "distributed file system," was developed by Sun. See file sharing protocol and WebNFS. NFS - Network File System , encryption, authentication, enterprise traps and multi-level security. This is available on 8,16, and 48-port products. DSView 3 Management Software In addition to managing Linux servers, the new DSView 3 management software will now allow users to install and run the DSView server on the Linux operating system, providing secure and centralised access and control of KVM (K Virtual Machine) A version of the Java Virtual Machine for small devices with limited memory. See J2ME. See also KVM switch. KVM - Keyboard Video Mouse , serial, IPMI and external power devices. The functionality allows existing administrators to manage and proactively maintain systems. Virtual media capabilities allow users to copy files to and from remote systems to install applications, update drivers, perform diagnostic testing Diagnostic testing Testing performed to determine if someone is affected with a particular disease.
