New plant-monitoring software.

Moldflow Corp., Wayland, Mass., has introduced a new plant-wide production-monitoring system for discrete parts manufacturers. Its new MMS/Production Monitoring 1.0 software is based on the CPI 2000 software from CPI, a French company Moldflow acquired last year. Moldflow carried out an extensive upgrade of the software (which was only offered in French) to "globalize" the program. The new product is a full-featured production-monitoring system that helps managers identify production delays, assess machine capacity, and get real-time part counts and reject rates at a glance. It joins Moldflow's Shotscope process-monitoring system and its MPX machine set-up, optimization, and control system--all parts of the MMS 1.0 package. Although MMS L0 previously included some production-monitoring capabilities, they were less extensive than now.

Features include a choice of three languages (English, Spanish, or French), imperial or metric units, and selectable currency and data formats. Also new is a customizable label-printing program, customizable reports, on-line help and instruction programs, and optional interfaces to ERP systems. The system can also manage work orders, schedule production jobs, track mold and machine maintenance, and produce reports on production statistics and efficiency of all machines.
