New nuncio.

Washington, D.C. -- Pope Benedict appointed the Papal Nuncio to Israel, Pietro Sambi, as Apostolic Nuncio to the United States on December 17, 2005. Together with other parties, Archbishop Sambi protested vigorously last May against permitting a Gay-Pride in Jerusalem. (The parade was cancelled but may be rescheduled for this year.)
