New mixing screw grows up.Randcastle Extrusion Systems Inc., Cedar Grove, N.J., has sold the first commercial-scale Recirculator Screw, a single screw with a novel intensive-mixing section (U.S. Patent 6,962,431 B1, issued Nov. 2005). The 4.5-in.-diam., 32:1 L/D L/D Labor and DeliveryL/D Lethal Dose L/D Lift/Drag (ratio) L/D Low Dynamic L/D Limiter/Discriminator L/D Loading / Discharging Rate (shipping) screw with three Recirculator sections was built by Xaloy in New Castle, Pa. Previously, the largest built was 2.5-in. diam. The 4.5-in. version is used to reclaim barrier film of LDPE LDPE abbr. low-density polyethylene and EVOH EVOH Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Polymer (chemical industry) and extrude extrude /ex·trude/ (ek-strldbomacd´) 1. to force out, or to occupy a position distal to that normally occupied. 2. in dentistry, to occupy a position occlusal to that normally occupied. it into a profile. The processor previously used a conventional barrier screw, Egan spiral mixer, and a compatibilizer additive.
