New medical careers begin at Mission Community Hospital.

Mission Community Hospital has partnered with the Pacoima Skills Center (PSC (Public Service Commission) Same as PUC. ) to offer a Medical Secretary training program to the public. The first class begins September 2 at the new Mission Panorama City Campus.

Students will attend the semester-format classes and receive education and training in medical terminology Medical terminology is a vocabulary for accurately describing the human body and associated components, conditions, processes and procedures in a science-based manner. This systematic approach to word building and term comprehension is based on the concept of: (1) Word roots, (2) , billing, office procedures, admissions, transcription, and insurance and coding. Classes combine traditional classroom learning with on-the-job internships in a healthcare setting. "Every student that gets trained gets a job," says Jerry Bradley, Assistant Principal, LAUSD/PSC. "There is such a demand for these programs- we're so lucky that Mission has teamed with us to offer these classes to the public. Our first class in Medical Terminology is already full."

Medical Terminology is the kick-off class, but as new rooms at Mission become available the remaining classes will be introduced to complete the Medical Secretary training program.
