James Kerstein was an owner of the former Polywood Inc. in Edison, N.J., which developed railroad ties using Rutgers' immiscible PS/PE blend before it closed in 2006. Also licensed by Axion is a glass-fillied PP/HDPE blend of recycled car bumpers and milk jugs. This was formerly licensed to Earthcare (parent of U.S. Plastic Lumber) for making RR ties. Axion has rights to Rutgers' technologies not licensed or used before, including an immiscible blend of PMMA PMMA polymethyl methacrylate. and recycled HDPE HDPE abbr. high-density polyethylene . Axion makes RR ties at a toll facility in Pennsylvania. It developed an I-beam of glass-filled PP/HDPE blend.
