New life for compounding immiscible polymer blends.

Axion International Holdings Inc. in Basking Ridge, NJ., has licensed the full range of immiscible immiscible /im·mis·ci·ble/ (i-mis´i-b'l) not susceptible to being mixed.

im·mis·ci·ble
adj.
Incapable of being mixed or blended, as oil and water.

Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  James Kerstein was an owner of the former Polywood Inc. in Edison, N.J., which developed railroad ties using Rutgers' immiscible PS/PE blend before it closed in 2006.

Also licensed by Axion is a glass-fillied PP/HDPE blend of recycled car bumpers and milk jugs. This was formerly licensed to Earthcare (parent of U.S. Plastic Lumber) for making RR ties. Axion has rights to Rutgers' technologies not licensed or used before, including an immiscible blend of PMMA PMMA polymethyl methacrylate.  and recycled HDPE HDPE
