New journals from Haworth Press & Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.

Haworth Press (Binghamton, NY) will begin the publication of Journal of Neuropathic Pain & Symptom Palliation with an issue in January. An annual subscription to the new quarterly costs $60 for individuals, $250 for institutions and $400 for libraries.

With an emphasis on education, the journal is being written to provide practitioners with clinical and practical information to help manage symptoms and improve the quality of life for patients. Editorial will carry information on treatment options, diagnosis and assessments methods for various pain syndromes, opioids in neuropathic pain, pain modulation, pain psychology, and updates on new analgesics.

Also, Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins (LWW; Phil., PA) will begin the publication of LPN2005 with an issue in January. It will be published six times a year for practical nurses. An annual subscription costs $23 for individuals and $79 for institutions.

LWW said the new journal will focus on "the skills needed by practical nurses to safely deliver bedside care to their patients in any practice setting." Feature articles will include information about caring for patients with common disease states, such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, neurologic disease, diabetes, and wounds. Regular columns will cover mobility, nutrition, infection, patient safety and career development.
