New heat-staking press is servo driven.

The new Servostaker from Sonic & Thermal Technologies Inc. (Sonitek), Milford, Conn., is an all-electric heat-staking press with servo drive and new digital controls. Compared with typical pneumatic presses, it is said to provide greater control of multi-stage force profiles, varying velocity, and absolute and incremental distance. The controls also provide feedback for ISO 9001-certified plants.

Servostaker is especially suited to soft thermoplastics or thin-wall parts that are unable to support typical pneumatically applied forces. It can apply staking force from zero up to 12,000 lb. Stroke can be set in increments of 0.0001 in. from the large color touchscreen. Cycles can be controlled by time, force, incremental or absolute distance, temperature, or collapse mode.
