New health care center to serve downtown area.

"Lower Manhattan, an area that includes Soho Tribeca, Noho, the Financial District and Battery Park City has doubled in size, both commercially and residentially, every 10 years for the past two decades," says Michael D. Wolf, Ph.D., director of marketing and operations for Tribeca Medical Center, a multi-specialty, multi-diagnostic comprehensive medical facility opening later this year on Duane Street in Manhattan's historic Tribeca. "Yet until Tribeca Medical Center came along, it was virtually impossible to find a too quality medical facility featuring a state-of-the-art MRI and imaging center, a women's health facility, a cardiology diagnostic center and a walk-in urgent care clinic anywhere in lower Manhattan. We are looking at the first successful marriage between medicine and business. More than that, this venture is a first for the future - an environment where patients can go to one place for every kind of testing, imaging and diagnosis by top specialist."

With the boom in growth in lower Manhattan, the one thing that has been sadly overlooked is comprehensive corporate and community health services. 'I've been a resident of Battery Park City for a decade and whenever my own family needed diagnostic testing, it meant a trip - or two or three - uptown," says Wolf: "There are over one million residents - including people who work downtown - who face the same exhausting, daunting proposition." The concept of the new Tribeca Medical Center was created out of sheer necessity. Its potential is fantastic because the area is growing rapidly in terms of its ever larger business center and quickly 'gentrifying' residential areas.

Enter internationally renowned father and son business development team Hans and Richard Middelberg, who saw the opportunity for a comprehensive medical facility in lower Manhattan and conceptualized, developed, and are presently completing building Tribeca Medical Center. 'People want to go to one place for all their diagnostic health care needs," said Richard Middelberg. "Tribeca Medical Center is as a convenient as a hospital but in the non-hospital setting patients prefer. Our patient population not as hectic as an emergency room and is without the long waiting time in the average physician's practice. It offers the ultimate happy medium."

Tribeca Medical Center is broken down into four divisions. There is a Walk-in Center which does not require a medical referral, a Women's Center, which services all diagnostic needs from mammography to ultrasound to dexometry or bone density testing for osteoporosis. Finally, the Cardiology Center and MRI/CAT scan/ultrasound units feature top of the line diagnostic equipment and board certified radiologists to interpret test results.
