New headbox at Daio.

Daio Paper Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announce time successful start-up of a new newsprint machine headbox at the Daio-Mishima mill in Iyomishima City, Japan. This 8.7 m x 1250 mpm headbox for the N4 machine, complete with dilution control, is the 41st MH Headbox-CIV by MHI. It is the first of three headboxes supplied by MHI which Daio Paper will install this year.

A power generation plant using only refuse paper and plastic fuel (RPF) will be installed at Tomakomai and Oita mills of Oji Paper by April 2004. Total investment is 15 billion yen (US$ 121 million). Tomakomai will get a new boiler, and Oita will get a boiler and a steam turbine.

Nihon Itagami's installation of the new No.9 machine to produce linerboard at Geibo mill was completed recently, and has been in production since April 1.The machine is capable of producing jute liner, kraft liner, white liner and corrugated medium at the rate of 10,000 ton/month.
