New generation strip winder offers full automation of the whole roll covering process. For the first time, full automation of the whole roll covering process is provided by Berstorff's latest generation strip winder. The principle of strip winding is simple. Continuously extruded rubber strip is applied by a covering unit, either at an angle or perpendicular to the roll core. Until now, the operators of such equipment have had to continually con·tin·u·al adj. 1. Recurring regularly or frequently: the continual need to pay the mortgage. 2. monitor and control the covering thickness, the guiding of the extruded strip and its application to the roll core. With this new generation strip winder, it is possible for the first time to execute the whole roll covering totally automatically. The whole process thus runs significantly faster and more efficiently. After the operator has entered the recipe for all the operating parameters into the control panel, the automatic control system takes over. Then, all the operator has to do is to place the extruded strip at the start point on the roll and to start the covering process. To determine, decide, or establish in advance: set points. The covering thickness is thus continuously measured throughout the whole roll covering and, where necessary, automatically corrected. In this way, the whole production process is fully automatic. And the system even enables larger starting and finishing thicknesses to be applied automatically. All the process parameters are shown in acutal/ set point form on a color display, greatly easing the operator's task. Up to 500 different recipes can be simply stored in Berstorff's standard control system. In addition, all machines can be equipped with a complete visualization Using the computer to convert data into picture form. The most basic visualization is that of turning transaction data and summary information into charts and graphs. Visualization is used in computer-aided design (CAD) to render screen images into 3D models that can be viewed from all and a comprehensive recipe and data management system, facilitating the possibility to establish different recipes for different rolls and to save and archive all the data measured during the covering operation. These strip winding units are fully pre-commissioned and can therefore be integrated into existing control systems, making for savings not only in production, but also during installation. A choice of high-performance extruders is available to work with the fully automatic strip winding units. [FIGURES 1-2 OMITTED] |
