New dynamic mixer from a new source.

Expanding beyond static mixers A static mixer is a device for blending (mixing) two liquid materials. The device consists of mixer elements contained in a cylindrical (tube)or squared housing. The static mixer elements consist of a series of baffles that are made from metal or a variety of plastics. , Sulzer Chemtech USA, Pasadena, Texas, has introduced its first dynamic mixing element. The Vortex Intermeshing Pin (VIP) mixer consists of a floating sleeve between the screw and barrel with pins pointing inward that intermesh with corresponding pins or slotted flights on the screw, depending on the balance of mixing and pumping needed. The sleeve can have eight or more pins around the circumference. It rotates in the same direction as the screw, but more slowly. This allows the pins to drag material and create a circular flow pattern, or vortex.
