New clean air rules for smaller facilities under development.Under the 1990 Clean Air Act, the EPA EPA eicosapentaenoic acid. EPA abbr. eicosapentaenoic acid EPA, n.pr See acid, eicosapentaenoic. EPA, n. is required to regulate the emissions of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) from large (i.e. major) sources and smaller (i.e. area) sources. In August 2003, the EPA finalized the Iron and Steel Foundry MACT MACT Maximum Achievable Control Technology MACT Maximum Available Control Technology MACT Men of All Colors Together MACT Minnesota Association of Community Theatres MACT Maulana Azad College of Technology (Bhopal, India) standards for those facilities that have the potential to emit 10 tons or less of any one HAP HAP. An old word which signifies to catch; as, "to hap the rent," to hap the deed poll." Techn. Dict. h.t. or 25 tons or more of a combination of HAPs, thus qualifying as a major source. While AFS A distributed file system for large, widely dispersed Unix and Windows networks from Transarc Corporation, now part of IBM. It is noted for its ease of administration and expandability and stems from Carnegie-Mellon's Andrew File System. AFS - Andrew File System works to resolve remaining issues under the industry's legal challenge to the Iron and Steel Foundry MACT, the EPA has begun examining the development of the emission standards for the non-major (i.e. area source) facilities. All iron and steel casting facilities not covered by the MACT requirements could be subject to these new area source regulations. The agency has more flexibility in how to address the HAP emissions from these facilities, and the new air standards could mean anything from increased paperwork, monitoring and reporting, new work practices standards and/or additional control technologies for smaller casting facilities. Those who would like to represent the interests of the iron and steel casting industry on this issue can participate in AFS's Area Source Task Force (ASTF ASTF Arab Science and Technology Foundation (United Arab Emirates) ASTF Aeropropulsion Systems Test Facility ASTF Aerospace Structures Test Facility ASTF Australian Standard Transfer Form ASTF A Suit That Fits ). This group will discuss emerging issues and developments primarily via e-mail, conference calls, and occasionally, face-to-face meetings.
