New cellular sites.
United Telecommunication Services (UTS) and CariGlobe
Telecommunications marked the first phase of the construction of their
telecommunications transmit-receive sites or cellular sites with a
groundbreaking ceremony, reports Caribbean Net News (Nov. 12, 2004). The
first site is being constructed at Belle Vue. There will be a total of
16 sites constructed, nine of which will be erected during the first
phase. The infrastructural phase is projected to last for a period of
three to five years at a cost of US$20 million. The St. Kitts-Nevis
Development Bank had an instrumental role to play in the venture.
Assistant Manager of Development Bank, Lenworth Harris, said the
undertaking was was the first collaboration with the European Investment
Bank, which made an equity input.
