New blowing agents make smoother PVC foams. (Additives).New low-temperature blowing agents for PVC PVC: see polyvinyl chloride. PVC in full polyvinyl chloride Synthetic resin, an organic polymer made by treating vinyl chloride monomers with a peroxide. and other thermoplastics have been added to the Tracel line of exothermic exothermic /exo·ther·mic/ (-ther´mik) marked or accompanied by evolution of heat; liberating heat or energy. ex·o·ther·mic or ex·o·ther·mal adj. 1. , endothermic endothermic /en·do·ther·mic/ (-ther´mik) characterized by or accompanied by the absorption of heat. en·do·ther·mic or en·do·ther·mal adj. 1. , and hybrid grades from Germany's Tramaco GmbH. They are sold here by Techmer PM of Knoxville, Tenn., and PolyOne Resin Distribution, Lemont, Ill. The new products have decomposition temperatures starting at 212 F, thus ensuring effective foaming at process temperatures of 248 F and higher. They are available as powders and in a new dustfree "grit" form, which is said to provide significant improvements in surface finish and cell structure, especially in PVC foam extrusion. The grit form is called SCB ScB abbr. Latin Scientiae Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Science) (surface-coated blowing agents). Tracel products are also supplied in masterbatches with active content of 5% to 90%. |
