New biocompatible PC resins have higher flow.

Three clear, biocompatible biocompatible /bio·com·pat·i·ble/ (-kom-pat´i-b'l) being harmonious with life; not having toxic or injurious effects on biological function.  polycarbonates with improved flow were introduced for medical devices by GE Plastics, Pittsfield, Mass. Two grades are members of a brand-new family of PC copolymers that not only achieve better flow than standard PC resins--without additives--but are also self-lubricating to provide easy release from complex molds. ; Lexan HPX4 has 10 MFR but higher low-temperature ductility, much improved hydrolytic stability for repeated autoclave autoclave

 sterilization, and higher impact strength.

For applications that don't require all the features of the premium-priced HPX copolymers, GE also introduced texan HP1HF, a biocompatible conventional PC with high flow (37 MFR) and outstanding hydrolytic stability.
