New antiblock leaves films clearer.

A new multifunctional antiblock concentrate boasts 47% higher efficiency in thin-gauge LLDPE, mLLDPE, and EVA films than conventional antiblocks. At the same time, Ainpacet 102765 from Ampacet Corp., Tarrytown, N.Y., reportedly cuts haze and friction coefficient about 40%. That is said to permit lower loadings of slip and antiblock plus higher film clarity.

Aimed at seal layers in food bags, garment bags, and shrink film, the new antiblock is diatomaceous earth plus a proprietary chemical that migrates to the surface between mineral particles to reduce adhesion. The concentrate has 15% active ingredient in LLDPE carrier.

The additive reportedly does not affect sealability and prevents foods like cheese and candy from sticking to the package, it is also said to be less abrasive than standard antiblocks and to reduce gel formation and oxidation catalyzed by mineral impurities.
