New York holiday concert visits Eugene.

New York's Aulos Ensemble and soprano Julianne Baird will present "A Baroque Christmas" as part of the Chamber Music Series at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 1, in Beall Concert Hall at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. Reserved seat tickets range from $12 to $27 through the Hult Center (682-5000) or the Erb Memorial Union (346-4363).

UO Professor Robert Hurwitz will give a free pre-concert talk at 3:30 p.m.

"A Baroque Christmas" features traditional carols, instrumental noels, cantatas and arias by J.S. Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti, Corrette and others in an Old World holiday setting.

Now an essential part of New York's holiday celebrations, the Aulos Ensemble presents a Baroque Christmas concert annually in the Medieval Sculpture Court at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The New York Times has reported, "If it has to be just one Christmas concert, this is it!"

The popularity of Aulos Ensemble's New York holiday performances has led to seasonal tours throughout the country and a "Baroque Christmas" recording on the MHS/Musicalmasters label, now offered through the Metropolitan Museum catalog.

, under such conductors as Zubin Mehta, Christopher Hogwood and Trevor Pinnock. In addition to radio and television appearances, she has more than 60 recordings, and is particularly known for her performances of early music.
