Celebrating more than 160 years of history, the New York Philharmonic The New York Philharmonic is the oldest active symphony orchestra in the United States, organized during 1842. Based in New York City, the Philharmonic performs most of its concerts at Avery Fisher Hall and has long been considered one of the best orchestras in the world. , America's oldest and longest-running orchestra, will present the largest exhibition of treasures from its archives ever to be on public view.

, "The Longest Run: New York's Philharmonic" will tell the story of America's first symphony orchestra and how it has been an integral part of the cultural currents that shaped New York City and its classical music heritage.

Sponsored by UBS Art Gallery, The Longest Run will explain and explore the evolution of the Orchestra through hundreds of rare and unique items in a multi-media exhibition. Historical materials from the most comprehensive orchestra archives in the world will range from the letters of Leonard Bernstein Noun 1.
