* NEW YORK LIFE INSURANCE CO. has elected MICHAEL OLESKE senior vice president of the company. Oleske is the company's tax counsel and head of the tax department. MICHAEL OLIVIERO has been elected first vice president of the tax department.

Oleske joined New York Life in 1986 as an assistant tax counsel in the tax department. He became first vice president in 2003.

JULIUS ALBERICO has been named first vice president in charge of life and annuity marketing in the company's agency department. The company also appointed MICHAEL LACKEY as vice president in the agency department.

Alberico most recently was with Humana Health Plans of Illinois as regional chief executive officer. Before that, he worked for New York Life in various roles. Lackey was previously an agent and sales manager for Mutual of New York.

In addition, the company has named BRIAN DUFFY senior vice president of AARP operations in Tampa, Fla. He succeeds GEORGE NICHOLS III, who is moving to New York Life's office of governmental affairs in Washington, D.C. Duffy previously has worked for Ace, GE Financial, Providian Financial and Colonial Penn Group.
