New York 'super bar band' arrives in search of new fans.

It's not every day you get the chance to see not just any bar band, but a "super bar band," as Bobby Previte Robert "Bobby" Previte (born July 16, 1959, Niagara Falls, New York) is a drummer, composer and bandleader. Previte earned a B.A. in music at the University at Buffalo, where he also studied percussion.  has dubbed himself and his Coalition of the Willing.

Fresh from Europe, this is the band's first-ever U.S. tour. The Willing is traveling the West Coast in May searching for supporters for its self-titled debut release, which is scheduled to be available in stores May 27.

Showtime is 8 p.m., and the WOW Hall is at 291 W. Eighth Ave. Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door.

The band is throwing a CD release party today at the WOW Hall with guests Inflikt and Forrestal's Fall. Labelmates the Domeshots also will join Royale for the party.

Northwest Royale has been together in various incarnations since 2000. The metal band's new release came out Tuesday under the Rock Ridge Music Rock Ridge Music is an independent record label based in New York City. Some of the more recognized artists on the Rock Ridge roster include Reel Big Fish,Psychostick, Stroke 9, Sinch, Five.Bolt.  label.

Some have dubbed the band's style as "progressive hardcore" because it blends heaviness, melody and dueling drums.

The band has opened for Rob Zombie A computer that has been covertly taken over in order to perform some nefarious task. It is estimated that millions of PCs around the world have been compromised and, under the control of a third party, routinely transmit messages unbeknownst to the user. , Down, Ill Nino, 36 Crazyfists and Candiria.

Showtime is 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Dirty Martini

Maybe last week's ballet featuring Pink Martini Pink Martini is a 14-piece music band from Portland, Oregon. The band was formed by pianist Thomas M. Lauderdale in 1994. They blend such diverse genres of music as Latin, lounge, classical, and jazz.  left you thirsting for something salty. Portland has another martini offering for Eugene audiences today when Dirty Martini takes the stage at a place known for its elegant cocktails: Luna.

Dirty Martini is Lara Michell, Stephanie Schneiderman and McKinley, who decided to form a band after many solo performances in the songwri- ter-in-the-round style.

Their CD release show in Portland sold out a 750-person venue. Since then, they have been playing and writing together, according to the band's Web site.

These women will pour Dirty Martini songs all over you at 9:30 tonight for less than the price of the liquid stuff: just $5. Luna is at 30 E. Broadway.

I Can Lick Any SOB in the House

Today, Sam Bond's Garage

After three studio albums, I Can Lick Any SOB in the House fans craved a live album. They have been requesting such an album almost since the band got started in 2002, according to a news release.

And so the band has provided "Live at Dante's," recorded at the Portland club The Portland Club is a London card-playing game club, the recognized authority on the games of whist and bridge. It is reputedly the oldest bridge club in the world. Founded some time before 1815 as the Stratford Club, it was given its present name in 1825.  - with mistakes, lyrical deviation and pre-song banter left on the final disc.

The band doesn't hold back in its songs, taking aim at the Bush administration in "Things That Fail" and senseless murders in "Rachel Corrie Rachel Corrie (April 10, 1979 – March 16, 2003) was an American member of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) who traveled to the Gaza Strip during the Al-Aqsa Intifada. ."

The band may not be, as its biogrphy says, "as poetic as Bob Dylan Noun 1. Bob Dylan - United States songwriter noted for his protest songs (born in 1941)

 or as accessible as Bruce Springsteen, but their gut-wrenching, in-your-face approach gets the message across."

The band with a really long name plays Sam Bond's Garage, 407 Blair Blvd., today with Saltlick headlining the show and Dan Jones & the Squids opening at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Run Run Run

Saturday, Diablo's/Downtown Lounge

Los Angeles-based Run Run Run is releasing "Endless Winter" this spring. Just one more reason we should be grateful we have distinct seasons here in Oregon. Look at how confused these young men are.

"Endless Winter," the band's debut full-length album, features dark, psychedelic guitar riffs. The record will be released internationally first, later this month.

Run Run Run is composed of Xander Smith, Doug Palmer, Nic Speck and Daniel Dod.

Bitch Machine headlines, with Run Run Run and Easy Does It opening this punk rock show at 10 p.m. The cover is $5.

Diablo's/Downtown Lounge is at 959 Pearl St.

Debra Arlyn

Saturday, Luna

Debra Arlyn has been hard at work writing songs, recording them and playing them live. Now it's time It's Time was a successful political campaign run by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) under Gough Whitlam at the 1972 election in Australia. Campaigning on the perceived need for change after 23 years of conservative (Liberal Party of Australia) government, Labor put forward a  to release some new tunes, so Arlyn returns Saturday to her favorite Eugene venue, Luna, with just that in mind.

Corvallis' resident rising star, Arlyn last visited Eugene in February for three romantic Valentine's Day shows at Luna. Romance Week was a success, selling out its weekend dates.

Arlyn, a pop vocalist and pianist, was named the "Oregon Idol" in 2003 and flown to Hollywood to try out for "American Idol." She's come a long way since that contest, and now has a national distribution deal for her third release, "Complicated Mess."

This time, the complications are not so much about teenage romance and dreams as the difficulties she's experienced pursuing a music career.

The show starts at 8 p.m. for a $7 cover charge.

Cloud Cult

Sunday, Sam Bond's

Last summer, Cloud Cult packed Sam Bond's. This time around, two live painters and two video screens will join the band on the Garage's little stage.

The band is on a two-month tour in support of "Advice From the Happy Hippopotamus hippopotamus, herbivorous, river-living mammal of tropical Africa. The large hippopotamus, Hippopotamus amphibius, has a short-legged, broad body with a tough gray or brown hide. ." To offset its environmental impact on tour, the band plants trees to counteract greenhouse gas emissions and buys wind power credits equal to the amount of energy it uses on tour, according to a news release.

As for the music? Pitchfork calls it "insane genius. ... Equal parts Isaac Brock yelp and Conor Oberst quaver ... melding folk, electronics, Arcade Fire emo and quasi-hippie hooba- joo."

The Cloud Cult show starts at 10:30 p.m. for a $5 cover. There is a separate early Americana show at 8:30 p.m. with Kris Delmhorst. That cover is $7.

Billy Currington

Monday, McDonald Theatre

In 2003, Billy Currington already had a top 10 and a top five country hit. But his career got a boost when Shania Twain tapped the singer to appear in her video "Party for Two."

They sang the duet live on the 2004 Country Music Association Awards and a special "Good Morning America Good Morning America is a weekday morning news show that is broadcast on the ABC television network. The show was adapted from The Morning Exchange, a morning show created by and airing on the ABC affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio, and was launched nationally as " show from Nashville. Media attention followed.

Vicci Martinez

Wednesday, Cozmic Pizza

Tacoma-native Vicci Martinez, 21, already has released four solo albums.

According to her press materials, she has turned down advancement offers in favor of doing things her way and pursuing her own vision. Her way means a lot of touring and performing in the Northwest and beyond, repeatedly selling out the Triple Door in Seattle since her 2005 release, "On My Way."

Martinez's bio describes her as an acoustic-based singer-songwriter with a "passionate voice, profound lyrics and incendiary INCENDIARY, crim. law. One who maliciously and willfully sets another person's house on fire; one guilty of the crime of arson.
