New TrueFace ID Compares Live Faces Against Database of Subjects; Miros' Face Recognition Technology Delivers Unprecedented Surveillance and Identification Capabilities.

WELLESLEY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 1999--

Miros, Inc. today debuted TrueFace ID(tm), the latest product in its TrueFace product suite using face recognition technology, in a live demonstration at CardTech/SecurTech '99 (Chicago, IL). TrueFace ID is able to quickly compare individual faces obtained from a live or taped video feed against a database of subjects and to accurately identify pre-selected security risks.

TrueFace ID, which utilizes Miros' patented TrueFace Engine(tm) technology, is able to capture the face of a person, recognize who that person is, and display and store that person's image for future analysis. It is designed for high-traffic applications including airports, casinos, and retail shopping security operations.

Michael Kuperstein, Miros' founder and chief executive officer, stated: "TrueFace ID enables security personnel to pick a face out of a crowd. Anyone who conducts high-level security and surveillance operations will find it an ideal solution for tracking and apprehending targeted subjects."

Kuperstein, TrueFace ID assigns a score to the match between the live subject and the faces in the database. It displays the matching faces in rank order of their scores. System operators can easily program TrueFace ID to signal an alarm and display a freeze-frame image any time it identifies a face in the database that scores above a confidence level against the live image. Confidence levels can be set to meet specific application requirements.

TrueFace ID operates on the Windows 98 and NT platforms, and can run on any Pentium-based system with a minimum processor speed of 200 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. . TrueFace ID works with any Video for Windows The name of Microsoft's first video playback implementation in Windows.
