. To alert members of Squeeze's email list, an a2b MAIL(sm) with a 15-second audio sample was sent, which linked to the download. Fans who download the track will also receive a downloadable coupon worth 1 English Pound off the price of the record, redeemable through both HMV UK's online site and HMV stores in the UK and Ireland. Links to the download will be available from all the participating websites: www.a2bmusic.com, www.hmv.co.uk, and the official Squeeze site www.squeezefan.com.

This marks the first digital distribution promotion undertaken by HMV, and is a2b music's inaugural campaign directed at the European market.

The heart and soul of Squeeze, Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook Glenn Tilbrook (born Glenn Martin Tilbrook, on 31 August 1957, in Woolwich, southeast London) is the lead singer and guitarist of the English group Squeeze, a power pop band formed in the mid-1970s.  just celebrated 25 years of their successful songwriting partnership. Domino, their 13th album release, is Squeeze's first studio project in three years and required listening for anyone interested in contemporary pop music. The album captures the cut and thrust of this line up, which Tilbook describes as one of the best Squeezes ever.

The a2b music player (for PC, Windows 95 or Windows NT) is available at no cost from the a2b music website. Simply visit the site and follow the instructions for downloading the player. Minimum computer requirements are also listed in the website. Once the player has been installed, the user can then download any a2b music-encoded song file.

a2b music uses MPEG-AAC compression (MPEG (Moving Pictures Experts Group) An ISO/ITU standard for compressing digital video. Pronounced "em-peg," it is the universal standard for digital terrestrial, cable and satellite TV, DVDs and digital video recorders (DVRs).  3 Layer 2) which offers superior sound quality and faster download times than MP3 files (MPEG 1 Layer 3). Version 2.0 of the player, which is being phased in this week, will compress at a 15:1 ratio; offer Real Audio G2 Player streaming of a2b music tracks; and will enable downloads for MacIntosh users.

a2b MAIL requires absolutely no downloads, plug-ins, audio streaming technology or hyperlinking. A mini-a2b music player is embedded into the actual e-mail message. The entire mail -- the music, the player, the artwork, text, and links - is only a 200K file. The end-user simply opens it like any normal e-mail, clicks a button, and 12 to 15 seconds of high quality audio immediately plays.
