Business/Technology Editors

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 18, 2002

Nabla Communications today announced a solution that will revolutionize the use of SMS-messaging in the US.

The new solution, called Nabla Messaging Gateway Hardware and/or software that converts one messaging protocol to another. It provides an interface between two store and forward nodes, or message transfer agents (MTAs). See messaging middleware.  (NMG NmG No More Gas (Myers Motors electric vehicle)

) available on GSM and iDEN networks. Therefore, the introduction of the NMG puts an end to the lack of interoperability between different operators and networks, one of the key factors keeping SMS from being as successful as it is on the European market.

"The Nabla Messaging Gateway (NMG) is a major breakthrough not only in technology but in the marketing of SMS to the US mobile customer base," said David Raucher Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Nabla Communications Inc. "For the last few years the US carrier has watched the European carriers increase their revenue exponentially through messaging while the US messaging market seems to grow at a much slower pace. Up until today, short text messaging Sending short messages to a smartphone, pager, PDA or other handheld device. Text messaging implies sending short messages generally no more than a couple of hundred characters in length.  has not really been accepted by US mobile phone users, simply because users couldn't be sure who they could communicate with. I am confident that our NMG will boost the SMS-usage in the US, something that obviously generates a lot of traffic and revenue in the mobile networks."

The simplicity and scalability of the NMG makes it an attractive solution for a variety of business and networking scenarios. Service providers and operators can initially use the NMG to provide cross-protocol messaging in their own networks. Later, the NMG can be expanded to exchange SMS-traffic among roaming partners and affiliates nation wide.
