New Recognition for PHNS' DMC HIM Employees.DETROIT -- PHNS PHNS Provider Healthnet Services announced the recent graduation of several of its health information management employees located at The Detroit Medical Center The Detroit Medical Center is a Detroit-based non-profit corporation that owns and operates nine general and specialty hospitals in southeast Michigan. Detroit Medical Center hospitals include: DMC Detroit Medical Center DMC Darryl McDaniels (rapper) DMC Destination Management Company DMC Del Mar College (Corpus Christi, TX) ") from The Schoolcraft College Health Information Technology program. PHNS and The Schoolcraft College created a partnership to provide an avenue for PHNS employees to take college credit courses concentrating in health information management, in addition to working their full-time jobs. "Our partnership with The Schoolcraft College will benefit our employees as well as the DMC. This effort and dedication demonstrates PHNS' commitment to improving our employees and enhancing the quality of service we provide for our customers," said Denise Johnson, PHNS' Corporate Health Information Management Director. Debbie Gallico, Jill Muller and Carly Plescia earned their Registered Health Information Technology ("RHIT RHIT Registered Health Information Technician ") certifications and Denise Verville achieved her Certified Coding Specialist ("CCS (1) (Common Channel Signaling) A communications system in which one channel is used for signaling and different channels are used for voice/data transmission. In addition, the Southeastern Michigan Health Information Management Association ("SEHIMA") recently named several PHNS employees as officers for their next term. Annette Fox, PHNS Coding Supervisor at DMC Huron Valley Hospital, is serving as President; Cheryl Richardson, Coding Supervisor at DMC Children's, will serve as Secretary; Shannon Pizzino, DMC Data Quality Specialist; and Renee DeBlois, DMC Director of Coding Quality, were appointed to the Elections Committee of the Association. Carly Plescia, HIM Forms Management Liaison, also was voted "Student of the Year" and was given an award at the Michigan Health Information Management Association ("MHIMA MHIMA Missouri Health Information Management Association ") Annual Meeting. Karen Cole, Coding Quality Specialist, was recognized in second place for participating in roundtable functions at MHIMA Coded Data Integrity Panel ("CDIP (CERamic Dual In-line Package) A DIP chip made of ceramic materials.
