HT Communications Inc. announces the LineMaker II, a low cost, low profile 56/64 Kbps DSU/CSU (Digital (or Data) Service Unit/Channel Service Unit) A pair of communications devices that connect an inhouse line to an external digital circuit (T1, DDS, etc.).  which installs itself automatically. The LineMaker II simplifies installation by using its own dynamic line-sensing capability to eliminate set-up complications for the user.

The LineMaker II is smaller than a typical desktop modem and can accommodate 56/64 Kbps, leased lines or Frame Relay digital network services. Using technology developed for HT's circuit tester, the LOOKER(TM), LineMaker II determines the line rate of the connected DDS (1) (Digital Data Storage) See DAT.

(2) (Data Dictionary System) See QuickBuild and OpenDDS.

 service and configures itself accordingly. A front panel display indicates the detected line rate.

The product bundles V.35 or EIA (Electronic Industries Alliance, Arlington, VA, www.eia.org) A membership organization founded in 1924 as the Radio Manufacturing Association. It sets standards for consumer products and electronic components. 530 DTE interfaces, local loopback, V.54 remote loopback, and push buttons to configure special test modes, all in a compact 1.5-inch x 5.5-inch x 5.25-inch enclosure. The LineMaker II is available through resellers at a list price of $325.
