Route protection switch

FIBER-OPTIC SWITCH gives a backup data path in case of network faults on a mission-critical network system. The 910/912/914 fiber-optic route protection switch provides automated switching between primary and secondary fibers. If faulty fibers or damaged network equipment cause a break in the network, the switch moves data traffic to an alternate path. It is ideal for adding fault-tolerant features to existing fiber networks. The system supports Ethernet/ Fast Ethernet, OC-3, FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) Often pronounced "fiddy," it was a LAN and MAN access method that had its heyday in the mid-1990s. FDDI was an ANSI standard token passing network that transmitted 100 Mbps over optical fiber up to 10 kilometers.  and many other data interfaces, and provides options for unidirectional The transfer or transmission of data in a channel in one direction only.  or bidirectional The ability to move, transfer or transmit in both directions.  protection and various recovery configurations. --Physical Optics

Complete inventory

INTEGRATE UNIX UNIX

) to get a picture of the total network environment from a centralized LAN-management console or any Web browser The program that serves as your front end to the Web on the Internet. In order to view a site, you type its address (URL) into the browser's Location field; for example, www.computerlanguage.com, and the home page of that site is downloaded to you. . Unix Inventory + leverages the administrative functions of Microsoft's SMS to simplify management of a heterogeneous client/ server environment by channeling Unix software and hardware inventory data into an SMS database. Companies can invest in only one database and one set infrastructure, reducing the total cost of ownership and of managing a mixed Windows/Unix environment. Unix Inventory + benefits include locating undetected assets, helping to ensure software-license compliance, providing accurate data for hardware or software upgrades, assisting in effective allocation of software and hardware assets, and providing a means for proactive troubleshootlng. Unix Inventory + works with Computing Edge's Notification Server, an MMC See MultiMediaCard and Microsoft Management Console.  snap-in that serves as the install, configuration and management tool. Notification Server works as a stand alone centralized management application, or it can forward the collected inventory data to the SMS server.-Computing Edge

Powerful packet testing

ISOLATE PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS and test distributed networking products in a localized setting. The IP Wave Network Impairment Emulator simulates the effects that might occur when applications communicate across large networks, such as the Internet. IP Wave provides accurate performance statistics for sensitive applications, such as voice over IP and streaming audio and video, without the need for geographically distant test locations. IP packets can be impaired in each or both directions for such things as delay, drop, duplication, error, order, jitter A flicker or fluctuation in a transmission signal or display image. The term is used in several ways, but it always refers to some offset of time and space from the norm. For example, in a network transmission, jitter would be a bit arriving either ahead or behind a standard clock cycle  and packet fragmentation. Statistics for each impairment applied are tracked and displayed as graphs, and a time-stamped packet list with class of service filtering is supplied for further analysis. Additionally, bandwidth limiting of 14.4 kbps to 10 Mbps can be imposed on the data streams to further simulate real-world conditions. IP Wave runs on a Windows NT workstation with two network cards and at least 128 MB RAM. --Adtech
