New Pillsbury frozen breakfast item, flavors make breakfast fun.

As first-day-of-school excitement wears off, getting kids to sit down for a warm breakfast can seem like an uphill battle.

That's why Pillsbury is serving up convenient new breakfast options that will convince them that breakfast is not only the most important meal of the day, but also the most fun. Kids can now enjoy an exciting new twist on pancakes, two new flavors of Pillsbury[R] Waffle Sticks with Dippin' Cups and tasty additions to the always popular Pillsbury Toaster Strudel[TM] pastries line.

Pillsbury[R] Mini Pancakes with Dippin' Cups build on the success and innovation of Pillsbury Waffle Sticks with Dippin' Cups, the original frozen breakfast dipping product. Mini Pancakes with Dippin' Cups are three-inch diameter pancakes that come with individual syrup cups for dipping. Both the pancakes and syrup cups are microwavable, and easy enough for kids to prepare.

Consumers can choose from two flavors, Buttermilk and Blueberry.

Adding to the morning meal excitement are two new flavors of Pillsbury Waffle Sticks with Dippin' Cups, Chocolate Chip and Cinnamon. The flavors may be new, but they still offer the same great taste, easy portion control and dipping fun kids love. Kids can toast as many or as few sticks as they want, and within minutes they're ready to dip into one of the accompanying, microwavable syrup cups.

Also new to the breakfast table are additional flavors of Pillsbury Toaster Strudel[TM] pastries, the No. 1 brand in the frozen toaster pastry segment. These toaster pastries, now available in Chocolate Fudge and an Improved Brown Sugar Cinnamon variety, make a warm and flaky breakfast treat, especially when kids top them with their own icing designs.

Eric Treschuk, Pillsbury Toaster Strudel[TM] marketing manager at "Our consumer research shows that kids love Toaster Strudel[TM] pastries because the do-it-yourself icing allows them to be creative in a way no other toaster pastry does."

With the frozen breakfast category accounting for $1.25 billion in supermarket sales each year, it's apparent that consumers are interested in convenient ways to bring their families a hot, appealing breakfast. "The strong consumer response to our initial Waffle Sticks item has demonstrated how much interest innovation can bring to the category," says Ricardo Fernandez, Pillsbury frozen waffles and pancakes marketing manager at General Mills.

Each package of Mini Pancakes with Dippin' Cups contains 32 individual pancakes and eight syrup cups, with a suggested retail price of $2.29. Packages of Waffle Sticks with Dippin' Cups, retailing for $2.29, contain 24 sticks and eight syrup cups. Toaster Strudel[TM] pastries have six toaster pastries and six individual icing packets per package and retail for $2.49. All three products are currently available in supermarket freezer sections nationwide.
