New National Minimum Wage Rates From 1 October 2008.


Following recommendations from the Low Pay Commission, the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform has announced the National Minimum Wage rates that will apply from 1 October 2008 :

The adult rate (for workers aged 22 and over) will increase from the current [pounds sterling]5.52 per hour to [pounds sterling]5.73.

The development rate (for workers aged 18-21) will increase from [pounds sterling]4.60 to [pounds sterling]4.77.

The rate for workers aged 16 and 17 will increase from [pounds sterling]3.40 to [pounds sterling]3.53.
