New Name & Expanded Services Announced for Seattle's Largest Natural Health Facility; 'Bastyr Center for Natural Health' Reflects Larger Vision.

Jane Guiltinan, ND, announced a new name for the Bastyr University Natural Health Clinic, which has been serving patients in the Seattle area since 1980.

"The Bastyr Center for Natural Health more accurately reflects the wide range of services we now offer to the community," said Dr. Guiltinan, Bastyr University's Dean of Clinical Affairs. "We wanted to acknowledge our significant growth as well as allow for flexibility in the future."

Many Seattleites remember the university teaching clinic's original storefront location in the University District, which provided naturopathic medicine services to a few thousand patients per year. The Center, which relocated to Wallingford in 1990, now encompasses a three-story office building and provides acupuncture and Oriental medicine, nutritional and lifestyle counseling services as well as naturopathic medicine in over 30,000 patient visits annually through its Team Care service.

In another expansion move, the Center will open its Practitioner Care service during January 2001. Practitioner Care is the group private practice of leading physicians and practitioners from the Bastyr University faculty. Among those practicing there will be Dr. Guiltinan, Lise Alschuler, ND, and Leanna Standish, ND, PhD, Lac.

Dr. Guiltinan has been in practice for 15 years and has been a member of the faculty at Bastyr University since 1984. She was appointed to the Board of Directors of Harborview Medical Center in 1998 and named the 1995 Physician of the Year by the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Dr. Alschuler has been in practice 7 years and has been a member of the Bastyr faculty since 1994. She has lectured widely, both nationally and internationally, on naturopathic and herbal medicine. Seattle Magazine listed both physicians among Seattle's "Top Doctors" this fall.

Dr. Standish serves as Director of the Bastyr University Research Institute, and has over twenty-five years experience as a research scientist. She currently serves as a member of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Advisory Council for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Bastyr Center for Natural Health offers comprehensive primary and specialty natural health care at its offices at 45th & Stoneway in Seattle.
