New Multilingual Capabilities in Petrolsoft's Supply-Chain Management Software Facilitate Unified Global Solution.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 1999--

Switch Among Languages With a Click of the Mouse -- At No Extra Cost -- in Latest Version of Industry-leading Software

Petrolsoft Corp., the world's leading provider of integrated supply-chain management (SCM) systems for the petroleum industry, announced today that its Supply Retail forecasting and scheduling solution now includes on-the-fly foreign-language translation of all menus, toolbars, field labels and help files.

This free new feature can help petroleum product companies operate more efficiently by allowing instant communications among customers who speak and read different languages.

"Supply chains are getting more complicated and are beginning to cross international and corporate borders, so the ability to communicate in multiple languages is a very powerful advantage for multinational petroleum companies," said Abraham Panahi, vice president of development for Petrolsoft.

"Because of closer relationships in the petroleum industry, there is a growing trend toward inter-supply chains and global sharing of SCM solutions. By giving our customers multi-language support at no extra cost, we can help them achieve more visibility in the global supply chain using a single software solution."

All new installations and regularly scheduled upgrades for current Supply Retail customers will include support for English, German, French, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Dutch, Panahi said. The first Petrolsoft customer scheduled to receive the internationally standardized Unicode version of Supply Retail is YPF SA in Argentina.

Users of the Windows-based program merely click on a dropdown menu to select the language of their choice. Menus, toolbars, field labels and help files change immediately to the language selected. Arabic, Greek and Chinese are scheduled to be programmed into Supply Retail next, followed by Cyrillic and the Scandinavian languages. Petrolsoft can provide custom translations. Petrolsoft's wholesale distribution solution, due in the third quarter, will contain multilingual support as well, Panahi said.

Having the ability to run Supply Retail instantly in another language offers significant benefits to multinationals, Panahi said: "It's a great time- and money-saver for any company that does business in an area where several languages are spoken, such as in the Arab states and continental Europe. It means a business unit can work faster with colleagues in the same company who might not be as conversant in their native tongue. In some applications, employers can reduce the need for hiring people who speak more than one language."

Other Petrolsoft customers include ARCO Products Co., BP Amoco plc, Caltex (Australia), Chevron Canada Limited, Ultramar Diamond Shamrock, Exxon Co. USA, Getty Petroleum Corp., Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC, Mobil US Refining & Marketing, Mobil Australia Ltd., Sun Refining & Marketing USA (Sunoco), Sunoco Inc. (Canada), Tosco Marketing Co. and Circle K, (76 Products).

Supply Retail consists of two independent modules that work together to form the most advanced automatic stock-replenishment and truck-scheduling system for bulk-surface petroleum supply and distribution.

Supply Retail gives petroleum companies the power to forecast customer demand and schedule resources to ensure the low-cost distribution of their products. With Supply Retail, companies have the power to lower operational overhead, reduce excess inventory levels and working capital requirements, reduce distribution failures (runouts and retains), improve buy decisions for fuel stocks, lock in customer demand, increase utilization of transportation assets, lower outsource freight expenditures and ultimately increase motor-fuel profitability.

Supply Retail automates petroleum companies' existing ordering and delivery systems, resulting in a fully integrated retail supply-chain management system. It standardizes downstream supply-chain practices with a single system without compromising a company's ability to handle its high-volume business processes.

Supply Retail's client-server architecture includes an easy-to-use Windows-based GUI, resulting in an easy-to-use environment for bulk petroleum distribution. The program interfaces with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and pricing systems to form a fully integrated information technology solution.

Headquartered in San Diego and with offices in London, Petrolsoft Corp. is the leading provider of integrated supply-chain management systems for the retail petroleum industry. The company plans to open an office in Asia by the first quarter of 2000. For more information, visit www.petrolsoft.com.
