New Motorola MPC8245 Integrated PowerPC Processor Fuels SBE's HighWire Communications Platforms; New Processor Provides Significant Performance Advancements.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SAN RAMON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2001

SBE SBE - Microsoft Office Small Business Edition  Inc., (Nasdaq:SBEI), a leading supplier of specialized communications and networking processing solutions, today announced the incorporation of the new Motorola MPC (1) (Mobile PC) A handheld or laptop computer. The MPC8245 yields higher processing power per slot to meet today's increasingly demanding Computer Telephony Integration Computer Telephony Integration - Computer Telephone Integration  (CTI (Computer Telephone Integration) Combining data with voice systems in order to enhance telephone services. For example, automatic number identification (ANI) allows a caller's records to be retrieved from the database while the call is routed to the appropriate party. ), VoIP, and data communications applications. Armed with this new processor, the HW400c/M and HW400p/M will allow integrators to realize an increased CPU clock rate of up to 300 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. , and superior memory bandwidth -- up to 1GB per second. In addition to faster core processing, the critical requirement of reduced power consumption is met by the HW400 with an MPC8245 onboard.

) communications core platforms were designed in full anticipation of the emerging technologies and latest components such as the new Motorola MPC8245 processor", said Mike Strang, vice president of Technology of SBE. "The high speed design of the new MPC8245 is an ideal fit for the advanced technology features of the carrier-class HW400 platforms," Strang concluded.
