New Metallocene-Based VLDPE Now Available for Food and Industrial Packaging.Business Editors HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2001 ExxonMobil Chemical Company (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :XOM) announced today it has commercialized Exceed 1012CA, a new metallocene-based, very low density polyethylene Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is a thermoplastic made from oil. It was the first grade of polyethylene, produced in 1933 by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) using a high pressure process via free radical polymerisation [1]. (mVLDPE). Exceed 1012CA was developed to provide better properties than currently available with conventional Ziegler-Natta VLDPE VLDPE Very Low Density Polyethylene and ultra low density polyethylene (ULDPE ULDPE Ultra Low Density Polyethylene ) resins. "This new grade is a major step-out which increases the breadth of our current metallocene product offering for food and industrial packaging applications," said Mark Healey, ExxonMobil Chemical's LLDPE LLDPE Linear Low Density Polyethylene polyethylene marketing manager. "For the first time, film fabricators, packaging designers and engineers will have a cost-effective, premium performance alternative to VLDPE or ULDPE." Manufactured at the ExxonMobil Mont Belvieu, Texas Mont Belvieu is a city in Chambers County, Texas, United States. It is just north of Interstate 10 along State Highway 146. The population was 2,324 at the 2000 census. Geography Mont Belvieu is located at (29.860242, -94. facility, this very low density (0.912 g/cm3) Exceed product has exceptional toughness and strength. With dart impact three times that of conventional VLDPE and exceptional puncture resistance, film manufactured with Exceed mVLDPE offers downgauging opportunities to reduce costs. Its low sealing temperatures (85 degree Celsius) means less energy is required for sealing and its cold temperature impact performance is excellent for frozen food packaging uses. The good clarity, outstanding gloss and very low haze properties are equal to conventional VLDPE, making Exceed mVLDPE an excellent choice for food packaging displays and checkout barcode-scanning. ExxonMobil Chemical Company, is a leader in metallocene-catalyzed technology and a leading supplier of a broad product line of polyethylene products for a variety of film applications.
