The election May 24 of Canada's newest member of Parliament, Todd Russell Todd Russell is also a miner who was trapped underground for a fortnight in the 2006 Beaconsfield mine collapse.

Todd Norman Russell (born December 22, 1966) is a Canadian politician and the Liberal member of Parliament for the riding of Labrador, Newfoundland and Labrador.
 (Labrador), retained the balance of power in Ottawa for the Liberal party and brought attention to a man who has also worked to support indigenous people within the Anglican church.

Mr. Russell captured 51 per cent of the 10,564 votes cast.
