The 996-acre park is located 25 miles southeast of Asheville, North Carolina, and is owned by the state of North Carolina. The park was privately owned until May 2007. , NC Basics and Beyond Dulcimer dulcimer (dŭl`sĭmər), stringed musical instrument. It is a wooden box with strings stretched over it that are struck with small mallets. The number of strings may vary.
