New Journals from Elsevier & Elsevier Science.

Elsevier Science (Philadelphia, PA) will begin the publication of Ecological Complexity, a new quarterly journal, with an issue in February 2004 while parent Elsevier (Amsterdam) will launch Physics of Life Review, also to be produced quarterly, with an issue in January.

Ecological Complexity is being targeted to ecologists, biophysicists, biologists, systems scientists and resource managers. Its mission is to publish articles on all aspects of bio-complexity in the environment, theoretical ecology Theoretical ecology

The use of models to explain patterns, suggest experiments, or make predictions in ecology. Because ecological systems are idiosyncratic, extremely complex, and variable, ecological theory faces special challenges.
and topics of current interest. Editorial will cover such topics as ecosystems and biospheres, ecological pattern formation, topology topology, branch of mathematics, formerly known as analysis situs, that studies patterns of geometric figures involving position and relative position without regard to size.  and networks, the dynamics of human/ environment interactions, policy development, and new tools and technologies for studying ecosystems. An annual subscription costs $72 for individuals and $380 for institutions.

Elsevier said that Physics of Life Reviews is "dedicated to the increasing amount of research in the field of biophysics biophysics, application of various methods and principles of physical science to the study of biological problems. In physiological biophysics physical mechanisms have been used to explain such biological processes as the transmission of nerve impulses, the muscle " whose editorial will address "all living systems," from molecules to populations and from genetics to artificial systems. Editorial will cover a wide range of topics related to the organization of complex living systems, Elsevier said, with research on "constructive explorations and modeling of biological phenomena" through the application of the foundations of physics Foundations of Physics is the most prestigious journal in physics on the subject of foundational problems facing modern physics. It publishes only a handful of papers each month from prominent physicists, in contrast to the American Physical Society’s Physical Review series . The journal will target physicists Below is a list of famous physicists. Many of these from the 20th and 21st centuries are found on the list of recipients of the Nobel Prize in physics. A
