New Journal on Drug Addiction from Nova Science.

Nova Science Publishers (Hauppauge, NY) has begun the publication of the "Journal of Drug Addiction, Education and Eradication." The new quarterly journal is "academically-oriented" title that is devoted to the study of various misused and, in particular, abused drugs and their effects on global society. An annual subscription costs $275.

Targeted to professionals from a range of fields with an interest in the topics covered, the journal includes information and data on law enforcement, psychology, anthropology, neurobiology, chemistry, counseling, medicine, economics, religion, pharmacy, sociology, administration of justice and education. Articles are written "in a style meaningful for a general readership with interests in the field," Nova said.

Initial issues include stories on such topics as patterns of the psychedelic experience, the efficacy of anti-addictive compounds, laudatory effects of properly used drugs of abuse, beliefs about cannabis drug education, the D.A.R.E. program, state initiatives to prevent high-risk drinking on campus, methadone maintenance, methamphetamine synthesis, and the evolution of the regulation of the medical uses of psychedelic drugs and marijuana.
