New Internet Diamond Exchange at WWW.Diamonds.Net.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 1996--Rapaport Corp. announces the establishment of the Internet Diamond Exchange (INDEX).

The exchange will offer interactive diamond trading, diamond buy requests, listings of diamonds for sale, diamond market news and Rapaport diamond price information. Trading on the Exchange will be limited to members of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses World Federation of Diamond Bourses, founded in 1947, was created to unite and to provide bourses trading in rough and polished diamonds and precious stones, with a common set of trading practices. It is composed of 26 member diamond bourses.  (WFDB WFDB World Federation of Diamond Bourses

) and other authorized diamond and jewelry trade organizations.

The Diamond Club West Coast (DCWC DCWC Deputy Cadet Wing Commander ), a U.S. member bourse bourse (brs), term applied to a European stock exchange. The first international bourse was established in Antwerp in the 16th cent.  of the WFDB has announced that they will participate in the exchange and establish a Web page at www.diamonds.net. DCWC will be the first diamond bourse and member of the WFDB to establish a Web site on the Internet.

The Jewelry Trade Center The Jewelry Trade Center is a 59-story mixed-use skyscraper located in the Silom Road gemstone district of Bangkok, Thailand. Designed by Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, the building was completed in 1996.  Thailand (JTC (standard, body) JTC - Joint Technical Committee. ) announces that they will participate in INDEX.JTC and Rapaport established a joint venture which will provide interactive electronic information and trading services on the Internet to the Thai gem and jewelry trade. The joint venture will establish the Internet Gem Exchange (GEMEX) for the trading of colored stones.

Martin Rapaport, publisher of the Rapaport Diamond Report The Rapaport Report is the jewelry industry standard for the pricing of diamonds. The report is published weekly and given to jewlers and diamond merchants to set the price for consumers. , the primary source of diamond price information to the jewelry trade, announced that over 5,000 Rapaport subscribers will have access to Rapaport prices, diamond trading, and information areas on the Internet via RapNet the Internet service of the Rapaport Diamond Report.

Rapaport announced the establishment of the Internet Jewelry Trade Directory which provides free listings to members of the jewelry trade and allows consumers to locate jewelers in their local area. Jewelers can use the directory to locate suppliers. Added value services including Web pages will also be offered to the trade.

The Diamond Forum, an interactive conference and chat area, is now open to the public at www.diamonds.net. Consumers will be encouraged to obtain information about diamonds and the jewelry trade. Consumers wishing to buy diamonds will be directed to jewelers listed in the trade directory.
