New InterBev format scheduled to begin with Chicago event in 1990

Beginning in 1990, InterBev, an important exhibition and conference for the beverage industry in North America, will become a biennial event taking place in even-numbered years, William Maloney, president, InterBev, Ltd., announced recently

Maloney also said InterBev, Ltd. will launch a new international beverage technology conference and expo to be held in alternate years. The new conference/expo will debut in 1991, and will coincide with the annual meeting of the National Soft Drink Assn.

"InterBev remains a vital marketing tool for suppliers to the beverage industry, but a survey of exhibitors indicated two out of three would prefer the major exhibition take place every two years," Maloney explained. "However, seven out of ten exhibitors expressed the need to see their customers every year, and 85 percent of our visitors, the buyers; told a Gallup survey they preferred to attend a show every year."

To meet the needs of all segments of the industry, Maloney added, the alternate beverage forum was created for the odd years.

The new beverage technology conference will accent and focus on an even more comprehensive educational program than has characterized recent InterBev's. More technical topics will be available and a greater number of seminars and panel presentations will be scheduled to allow attendees a wide selection.

Additionally, the expo component will offer exhibitors a cost-effective opportunity to meet with customers during alternate years. According to Maloney, the exposition portion will be of modest size with exhibitors realizing a lower square footage rate than the biennial InterBev's.

Currently, several sites are being considered for the 1991 event, Maloney noted.
