New Incuity HDA(TM) Version 2.1 Takes Advantage of New .NET 2.0 and SQL Server 2005 Capabilities.

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. -- Incuity Software Inc., a leading developer of real-time business intelligence software for manufacturing enterprises, today announced the release of Version 2.1 of its Incuity HDA(TM) historical data access solution for integrated, plantwide deployment of production information.

The new version is designed specifically to take advantage of the newest software releases from Microsoft Corp., including the .NET 2.0 framework for providing Web services and the powerful new Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database.

"Since its introduction earlier this year, Incuity HDA has provided a broad array of capabilities for manufacturing users to access and deploy historical production data so they can run their business better," explained John Nichols, Incuity's chief operating officer. "It has given users a single rich client toolset for use with all of the major process historians; provided services to integrate and manage that data according to user-defined needs; and offered presentation services that let people deploy more useful and practical production information.

"Version 2.1 elevates these capabilities to new heights because of the incredible features and performance now provided by the Microsoft technologies on which Incuity HDA runs," Nichols added. "The new .NET 2.0 framework provides the ability to quickly build, deploy, manage and use connected, security-enhanced solutions with Web Services. The new features of SQL Server 2005 - which is embedded as an integral part of the new HDA version - provide users with much faster processing, better data analysis and report preparation, and tighter integration with other corporate software applications."

Incuity HDA enables users to access data from several popular industrial data historians, such as OSIsoft's PI System, General Electric's Proficy Historian, Rockwell Software's RSBizware Historian, and Wonderware's IndustrialSQL Server, as well as any other OPC HDA-compatible historian. It exposes the full value of their historical data through familiar Internet browsers, Microsoft Office applications and Incuity's own powerful data analysis tools.

New attributes of SQL Server 2005 that enhance Incuity HDA include a complete rewrite of the former data transformation services (DTS) into what is now known as SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS), which can handle much larger data loads and adds higher performance capabilities. HDA users and database administrators can implement tasks with just a few mouse clicks for maintenance, business intelligence, data mining, and sorting and grouping, as examples. SQL Server uptime is enhanced with online reindexing, incremental recovery and database mirroring features and it has stronger auditing and security capabilities - which can be important for Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory compliance.

"SQL Server 2005 also enhances the development and integrity of applications with true XML support and common language runtime (CLR) integration," noted Doug Lawson, Incuity president and CEO. "In addition, new management enhancements boost database performance and make it easier to manage and troubleshoot the database.

"When you combine this performance with the HDA improvements we've made in response to customer suggestions, Incuity HDA 2.1 is much more robust, capable and easier to use," Lawson said. "As an example, we've added new features to our Excel add-in that allow users to easily do more complex tasks such as resampling, summarization and roll-up of data extracted from historians.

"In addition, we've upgraded the Reporting Web Site feature for the Incuity Classic portion of the HDA product and made it available as a download from our Web site for users of both Incuity HDA and Versions 8.5 and earlier of our former ActiveFactory products," Lawson added. "This simplifies the creation of Web site reports that people can access via the Internet or a corporate intranet from anywhere in the enterprise. Using industry-standard browsers they can get up-to-the-second reports, trends and displays of production information that's important to performing their jobs."

Version 2.1 of Incuity HDA is an upgrade to Version 2.0 and is available at no charge to Incuity HDA users who have purchased comprehensive support or to users of ActiveFactory 8.5 and earlier who are covered by a comprehensive support agreement.
