New Haven Savings Bank in Connecticut has acquired Connecticut Bancshares Inc. and Alliance Bancorp of New England. Connecticut Bancshares Inc. is the holding company for Savings Bank of Manchester, which has $2.6 billion in assets; Alliance Bancorp of New England is the holding company for Tolland Bank, which has $420.8 million in assets. The acquisition is expected to make New Haven Savings Bank the state's second-largest savings bank with $5.3 billion in assets.
