About 350 people paid $25 to shoot Uzis and AK-47s at the Manchester GOP "Machine Gun Shoot" fundraiser in August. The event, which raised an estimated $2,000 for the committee, raised some eyebrows--especially among the state's Democrats, some of whom publicly said the event was in poor taste. The effort to curb violent crime in the city has been a hot political issue in Manchester in recent years and has already been named as one of the top issues in the upcoming mayoral race.
