New HDPE & PP for film, jerry cans & luggage.

Three new polyolefins reportedly offer significant cost and performance advantages in film extrusion and injection and blow molding. Two grades of Hostalen HDPE HDPE - High Density Polyethylene and one of Moplen PP copolymer are currently manufactured in Europe but available here from Basell Polyolefins, Elkton, Md.

5331A HDPE is a blow molding grade said to combine high tensile modulus with much greater ESCR ESCR - Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights
ESCR - Electronic Social Care Records (UK)
ESCR - embryonic stem cell research
ESCR - Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance
than the current standard. Made with the company's Advanced Cascade Process (ACP), the resin is said to be attracting molders of jerry cans because they can reduce wall thickness, container weight, and cycle times.

* Hostalen GX4041 HDPE for blown film boasts a combination of stiffness and impact resistance desired for lamination film, release film (bitumen films), paper-like film, shopping bags, and heavy-duty bags. This resin reportedly provides a very broad processing window, good layflat properties, and excellent roll configuration.

* Moplen EP 1661 high-flow PP copolymer is designed for injection molding large, heavy-duty crates and luggage. It boasts an excellent balance of stiffness and low-temperature impact, along with good creep resistance and stacking performance. It's high flow eases production of large items like luggage and offers potential for reduced wall thicknesses and significant weight reduction, Basell claims. Tel. (800) 955-3223 * PT Direct: 217LH
