New Global Telecom (NGT) Announces Single Billing Services Acquisition; Acquisition Helps NGT Expand International Long Distance Services to Asian Countries.
GOLDEN, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1, 2000
New Global Telecom (NGT), an international facilities-based carrier, announced today the acquisition of Single Billing Services (SBS), an international long distance provider based in El Monte, Calif. The acquisition expands NGT's range of bundled voice and data services, and expands its presence in 44 of the 50 United States.
"NGT highly values SBS's exclusive marketing agreement with the Asian American Association, which currently has over 1.5 million Asian members plus 200,000 businesses," stated Richard Franz, Vice President of Retail Services at NGT. "This gives us a direct relationship to our targeted audience, heavy users of international long-distance whose calling patterns mirrors our global network."
SBS provides long distance services for Asian American residential and commercial long distance users in 44 states. Helen Shih, President of SBS, mentioned that 80 percent of the calls made by SBS customers terminate in markets served by NGT. "We're excited about the match between our customers and NGT's global network. We also are looking forward to expanding our product offerings to include more bundled internet and data services," she added.
Serving predominantly members of the Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and Filipino communities and other groups of people who frequently call Asian countries, SBS provides customer service in seven languages. SBS currently employs approximately 210 employees and has over 80,000 retail accounts that generate more than $2.3 million a month in revenue.
"NGT is excited about the SBS acquisition and what it means for the continued growth of our retail services," said Rich Grange, president and CEO of NGT. "The integration of the SBS customers into our converged network fits our long-term goal of providing value-added services to our customers worldwide."
