Motorola (NYSE:MOT) puts the latest mobile communications technology into the hands of consumers today with the introduction of the first-of-its-kind Motorola V.series personal communicator model V100.

The V.series V100 combines text messaging, phone functionality, Internet access and GSM technology with a full QWERTY keyboard and large screen to provide consumers with a full range of communications choices. The V.series V100, which took Europe by storm in October and has since been named one of the 10 best digital gadgets of 2000 by Campaign magazine, will make its U.S. debut at the 33rd annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this weekend.

(IDC) estimates that in the U.S. the number of SMS (text messaging) users will soar to 68 million by 2003.
