New Federal Government Scorecard: Fs, Ds AND As.

The Federal Government released its annual scorecard of agency security performance and, like last year, most agencies did poorly, getting Ds and Fs.

"The choice before us is a clear one: Inaction resulting in eventual economic devastation and potentially catastrophic loss of life, or preemptive pre·emp·tive or pre-emp·tive

One of the notable exceptions of the annual scorecard has been the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), an independent U.S. government commission, created by the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974 and charged with licensing and regulating civilian use of nuclear energy to protect the public and the environment.  (NRC NRC

), who was one of the very few agencies receiving an A grade for security this year.

"NRC has worked very hard to improve its security environment and obtain an A grade. NRC management and staff recognize the need for a continuous focus if effective security is to be achieved and maintained. Last year Allied Technology Group installed a SAGE BRICKServer-based system to help protect sensitive information for the NRC. This, and other IT security support provided by Allied Technology demonstrated NRC's security focus and were contributing factors to the improved grades," said John Ippolito, Director of Information Technology Security, Allied Technology Group.
