) today announced that Brooke Seawell has joined as a Venture Partner, effective January 1st, 2005. Mr. Seawell will put his 25-plus years' experience in technology finance and operations to work with the technology team out of NEA's Menlo Park office.

From 1991-1997, he was senior vice president, finance and operations and CFO See Chief Financial Officer.  of Synopsys, an electronic design automation software company, which he took public in 1992. Previously, Brooke was vice president, finance and production and CFO at Weitek, a semiconductor company, which he took public in 1988. In 1979, he co-founded and was CFO of Southwall Technologies. In 1990 Upside magazine recognized Mr. Seawell in its list of the top 15 high-tech CFOs. Mr. Seawell holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from Stanford University Stanford University, at Stanford, Calif.; coeducational; chartered 1885, opened 1891 as Leland Stanford Junior Univ. (still the legal name). The original campus was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. David Starr Jordan was its first president. . He currently serves on the Board of Directors for two public companies - NVIDIA and Informatica.
